Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)
CANPBD, the Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center (NSEC) at Ohio State University, presents a Research Experience for Undergraduates program that focuses on developing the fundamental science, new technologies, and integrated nano-systems engineering for advanced biomedical devices. Research projects range from experimental to theoretical nanofluidics, from nanofibers to nanoparticles, and from cell manipulation to device fabrication, while maintaining a strong emphasis on the connection of the individual projects to the Center’s overall goal of producing next‐generation biomedical devices.
Students that participate in the NSEC REU Program are also offered professional development activities designed to prepare them for success in a variety of scientific and engineering environments. Experiences outside the lab included peer networking, high school outreach, a trip to the Cleveland Clinic and social activities. NSEC REU students work with NSEC faculty mentors chosen from a broad range of disciplines including Chemistry, Physics, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Pharmacy.
